U.S. Treasury Securities

The U.S. Treasury Securities market is one of the largest and most liquid in the world. There are tens of thousands of participants that trade hundreds of billions per day. U.S. Treasuries, the marketable debt of the United States, are considered the benchmark for interest rates in the United States and the global capital markets.

The purpose of this site is to explain in more detail the practical and inner workings on how U.S. Treasury securities are traded among the many institutional professionals and market participants. The site is organized as a  series of articles (called Pages) that may be navigated using the index at the right.

  1. What is the true meaning behind NY Times (Paul Krugman) posting that US Treasuries has recently posted a PROFIT? Is this a false profit story backed up by the Fed purchasing treasuries for themselves and thus keeping it looking like all is OK?
